Artist Statement

She is a painter inspired by nature's beauty and exploration of a place's history. Her paintings embody texture, colour, and mark-making and meditate on a relationship between colour and atmosphere. She works chiefly in acrylic, ink and colour pencils on canvas, attempting to apply a mixture of scratches and wipes to create rough patterns and veins.

The paintings always contain the elements of nature, not only showing a landscape but also revealing her spiritual nexus to nature. Through her work, there is a wish to evoke a feeling of soothe and tranquil to remind the viewer to temporarily forget life's anxieties and worries and appreciate nature.

Background

As an artist and resident born and growing up in Hong Kong, She constantly explored the diversity of Western and Eastern cultures and assisted nature in revealing its beauty. Origins of a place or a kind of experience are treasured because they are traced back to what formers did honestly and unconditionally. She also admires nature; she realized that nature's elements could link with a society's background and facilitate its development. She is willing to discover the meanings underneath.

Artwork process

About making artwork, she likes to research initially to ensure the theme, shorten the range and concentrate on the field, which leaves her room to unleash some imagination. Sometimes, she collected information from different visual media such as online platforms, books, artworks, magazines and landscapes. They are all the references and sources to start the creating journey. The texts and photographs could give out a sense of a picture within the brain. Then, she would write down the keywords and colours' names and begin those artworks.
