Artist Statement
Mimi Chui (b. Hong Kong) is a contemporary visual artist whose practice investigates the architectural and physiological resonance between human spatial memory and the natural environment. Employing a rigorous, process-driven methodology, her work orchestrates complex layerings of acrylic, oil, soft pastels, and colour pencils on canvas to interrogate the boundary between physical space and psychological interiority.
Central to her practice is a distinctive tactile vocabulary of scratching, erasing, and vigorous wiping, which transforms the canvas into a site of temporal accumulation. Through these rhythmic gestural marks, Chui unearths organic topographies and linear veins that serve as a spiritual nexus to the landscape. Rather than merely depicting nature, her immersive compositions act as meditative thresholds—invoking a profound state of atmospheric tranquillity that invites viewers to dismantle daily anxieties and recalibrate their sensory connection to the shifting world.
徐幗烜（Mimi Chui），當代視覺藝術家，畢業於香港浸會大學視覺藝術院（碩士優異畢業及學術獎得主）。其創作核心圍繞著空間記憶、物質紋理與人類情感之間的感官考察。徐氏擅於運用壓克力、油彩、軟粉彩及色鉛筆等多重媒材，在畫布上進行高密度的層疊、刮擦與拭除，藉由近乎修行式的身體勞動，將感性的情緒波動轉化為理性的肌理與視覺脈絡。
其作品往往透過去除具象形體的大自然元素，構築出一種介於微觀地貌與宏觀空間的「精神紐帶」。對徐氏而言，創作並非對自然景觀的單純再現，而是一場對空間與心理閾值的深度冥想。透過畫布上痕跡的留存與消逝，她創造出一個充滿詩意與靜謐的氛圍屏障，引導觀者暫時抽離當下的現實焦慮，在痕跡的延展中重新尋得心靈的凝聚與對話。
